Hi there, I'm Gab.

And I built this because I needed this.

My parents named me right. The gift of gab turned into a 15-year career in communications spanning agency chaos, hypergrowth startups, and billion-dollar brands. I’ve worked everywhere from Edelman to Slack and Bumble, leading global teams, managing crises, and sitting at the same executive tables I used to write talking points for.

But I didn’t always feel like I belonged there.

I scaled fast. From IC to VP in six years with no roadmap, no mentor, and no idea what came next. I was the only comms person in the room more times than I can count. The one translating tech jargon into headlines, spinning up a crisis plan from scratch, managing exec egos and social blowups - while secretly Googling “how to write CEO talking points” at all hours of the night.

I knew there had to be a better way.

Eventually, I figured it out. Built systems. Got clear on what mattered. Started saying no. Grew into my voice. But I never stopped wishing I had someone to guide me earlier.

I wanted a coach, without the $10K price tag. I wanted someone in my corner. Someone to keep me in the game. Because I knew I had more to earn, more to give, and more to become.

As a mom of two young kids, I’ve learned the hard way how to lead and live, how to grow a career without burning it (or myself) to the ground. And I believe no one should have to choose between ambition and sanity.

So I built Off the Record.

→ Because two-thirds of the comms industry is women—but we make up only a third of its leadership.
→ Because your boss might be too busy, too senior, or too far outside of comms to actually mentor you.
→ Because working from home means you lost your office BFF.
→ Because everyone says it needs more polish, but no one tells you what “polish” actually means.
→ Because being the only comms person in the room is exhausting.
→ Because you deserve support that’s as strategic as you are.
→ Because you’re not asking for a seat at the table anymore—you’re pulling up your chair.

This isn’t a humblebrag newsletter or join-and-forget-it membership. It’s a private place for the comms pro holding it all together, but not always feeling held. A space to gut-check your instincts, sharpen your thinking, and finally stop going it alone.

You’re not the intern anymore. You’re the freaking comms pro. And now it’s your turn to get supported like one.
